I recently visited the birth place of marble in Carrara, Italy. Upon arriving at the Carrara rail station, we were collected in a 4WD Range Rover and driven up the narrow, winding road all the way to the top of the largest white marble quarry in Italy. From above, between the breaks in the clouds we could see the sea port below at the Mediterranean coast where hundreds of raw blocks and fabricated marble slabs are waiting to be containerized and loaded on vessels.

After seeing the quarry in full production, we were given a tour of the newest, most state-of-the-art fabrication facility where we were able to see stone carvings, as well as various exotic marble slabs and tiles.
Although a short trip, the fascinating Carrara was one of the highlights of our travels in Italy.

Construction is about to begin on our new 3,500 sq. ft. design gallery at the Houston Design Center. We will feature a gambit of new product lines, displaying stone carvings, mosaics, planking and wall cladding, as well as an expanded line of contemporary glass and porcelain.
