Houston AIA Home Tour 2010

Thorntree is proud to once again this year be sponsoring the AIA Home Tour, and to have contributed some of the natural stone products for the Hollenbeck Architects house at 4300 Betty St. in Bellaire.

The American Institute of Architects opens the doors to nine architect-designed homes for this tour showcasing a variety of residential styles.

Sustainability, open floor plans, indoor/outdoor spaces, abundant light and a mixture of modern and traditional materials mark key features of this year’s houses.

The tour's broad range of square footage from 2,000 sq.ft. to 6,500 sq.ft. and locations from Bellaire to River Oaks demonstrates that size and dollars do not limit excellent design.

8th Annual International Risotto Festival

What a great turnout we had for Risotto this year! It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon as everyone strolled in the breezy outdoors of the Houston Design Center. The aromas of Risotto filled the air and the wine was flowing! If you stopped by Thorntree's studio, you got to enjoy our delicious home made Tiramisu, compliments of yours truly!

Congratulations to all the chefs who competed, the judges who deliberated, the sponsors who supported and the fans who enjoyed this year's International Risotto Festival!

Chef Jon Buchanan of Trevisio earned top prize with his Crabmeat and Meyers Lemon Risotto

First runner-up Jamie Zelko of Zelko Bistro wowed judges with her white Alba truffle Risotto

Also in the winners' circle were Philippe Schmit of Philipe Restaurant (2nd runner up)

Coral Stone from The Dominican

MAKING A STATEMENT IN COASTAL ARCHITECTURE

Coral Stone is quarried from mountains and land which once were part of the ocean, millions of years ago. Large blocks are extracted, then fabricated. When a natural appearance is desired, Coral Stone is the ideal choice.

Its neutral color and rich texture make it a very versatile material that gives freedom of design in interiors and exteriors, columns and balustrades, moldings, fountains and any other custom stone application.

We are now stocking the Coral Stone in field tile, coping, 2 types of wall ledge cladding, and a new line of very interesting three dimensional mosaics.
